Origins of the Foundation

The Cardinal Dery Foundation was founded by William B. Coleman in 2003 as the Archbishop Dery Foundation.  The name changed when Archbishop Dery was elevated to Cardinal by Pope John Paul II.

Foundations are created to carry on the laudable works of generous and forward-thinking persons.  It is fitting that a foundation has been established in honor of Peter Cardinal Dery, Archbishop Emeritus of Tamale, Ghana, for his contirbution to the spiritual and temporal welfare of humanity, not only in northern Ghana but in all of Ghana and Beyond.

The beneficiaries of Cardinal Deary's apostilical and pastoral assistance cut across tehnic, social and religious boundaries, and include those who are genuinely in need of help to better themselves for the service to others.
